Learning and Development Specialist

Located in Halton Region, our client is a leader in their industry. They are seeking a dynamic and driven Learning & Development Specialist to join their team.

As the Learning & Development Specialist, you will play a critical role in implementing the company's learning culture. Reporting to the Senior Manager, People & Culture, you will be an integral member of the team responsible for creating and nurturing a highly positive Team Member experience


Responsibilities
  • Conducting learning needs assessments to identify skill gaps and areas for improvement, and assist the VP and Senior Manager of People & Culture in designing learning strategies to address these needs.
  • Designing, developing and implementing learning programs and materials for Team Members, including job-specific training, leadership development, and onboarding programs.
  • Delivering training sessions, workshops, and webinars, using a variety of instructional techniques, such as facilitation, demonstrations, simulations, and machine learning.
  • Measuring the business impact of training programs and materials, gathering financial results, feedback from participants, and using data to make improvements.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts, trainers, and other stakeholders to create effective learning programs.
  • Sourcing, assessing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's learning management system (LMS), ensuring that learning materials are up-to-date, accessible and intuitive.
  • Developing and implementing performance support tools, such as job aids, manuals, apps, and online resources, to help Team Members apply their learning on the job.
  • Staying up-to-date with new developments in learning and development, including emerging technologies and best practices, and recommending new approaches to improve training effectiveness.
  • Working with People & Culture and other departments to identify personalized learning and career development opportunities for Team Members and support their ongoing professional development.
  • Managing the Company’s meeting cadence and providing coaching on the company's meeting framework.
  • Overseeing the Company’s community initiatives.


Qualifications
  • Have relentless initiative and are a self starter, fast learner, and multitasker
  • Possess enthusiasm and a keen sense of humour
  • Excel at interpreting data and can effectively measure the business impact of learning and development initiatives
  • Have a bachelor's degree in any discipline and are either actively enrolled in a learning management program or working towards accreditation
  • Have proven 3+ years experience in a learning and development role
  • Are a strong communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Are able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Excel at time management and organizational skills
  • Fully embrace learning technologies
  • Have experience using Canva and Google Suite (not mandatory but a definite asset)
