TreowGroup Recruitment, on behalf of our Niagara-based manufacturing client, is seeking a Business Unit Controller.
Location: Niagara, ON Remote Type: On-site daily with occasional travel Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 + Bonus + Health Benefits + RRSP Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Job Summary: In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of monitoring and steering the financial operations of one of the company’s business units, playing a critical role in its financial planning, budgeting, and risk management. You will report directly to the Business Unit President, with an indirect reporting line to the CFO of the Parent Company.
Key Responsibilities:
Compile and report monthly financial results to leadership, including variance analysis and commentary.
Review subsidiary audits and provide executive summaries on findings.
Monitor and manage the financial operations within the business unit.
Develop financial plans and strategies aligned with the business unit’s goals.
Identify financial risks and collaborate with leadership to develop effective risk management strategies.
Provide financial insights and support growth initiatives for the Business Unit President and Regional Coordinators.
Prepare and present financial reports, offering recommendations to the leadership team.
Collaborate with corporate finance teams on broader financial strategies and decisions.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Business Controller, Financial Controller, or similar role with at least 7 years of experience.
Highly analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of making strategic decisions.
Strong understanding of financial processes, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex financial data.
Excellent business acumen and leadership skills.
In-depth knowledge of financial regulations and procedures.
Proficiency with financial software and systems.
Professional certification (e.g., CMA, CPA) required; MBA is a plus.
Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
